Though Rocky Mountain would prevail by 7 in the loser out game at Centennial High School, Mountain View gave them everything they could handle.
Rocky Mountain got out to an early 14 point lead in the first but Mr. Do Everything Tyson Percifield scored 12 points to get back into striking distance before the quarter was over. He would end up with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
The next two quarters were basically the same. Rocky Mountain used balanced offense and solid defense to extend their lead then Mountain View would get a quick burst to be right back in it. And it wasn't just Percifield. Brock Rule had a solid shooting game and Tyler Horn grabbed some big boards.
Mountain View would actually close the gap to 3 points with about 2 minutes to go. However, David Trompke hit a free throw to extend the lead to 4 and that pretty much ended Mountain View's run. Travis Van Diest had a nice game for Rocky Mountain in the paint.
So Mountain View is done for the year, but have a lot to look forward to with most of their impact players coming back.
Rocky Mountain will now play Borah next Tuesday at Centennial after Borah lost in OT tonight against Eagle. Tip off is 6:00 PM. The winner will move on to state. The loser will play the loser of the Centennial/Timberline game.
