I've said it before and I'll say it again, the BCS is BS. Why college football will not get a playoff system has always been a mystery to me, but it has now been explained to me. Rick Reilly, who used to write for Sports Illustrated and now works for ESPN, wote a terrific column on the whole mess. Follow this link and read his article on the BCS. If you don't agree with him by the end of it, frankly something is wrong with you. For people who would disagree with him, all that would have to happen to make them understand is to have their favorite team get shafted by the NCAA like Utah has been this year.

To say that "college football" does not have a playoff is incorrect. 1-A does. Division II does. Division III does. How can they do it and the BCS division does not? Money should not be the reason. In our current system, teams get one bowl. In a playoff system, let's day 16 teams, 8 teams get one game, 4 get two, and two get 3 and 2 get 4 games. Multiple games means multiple monies. And...and this is a big and...you can still have bowl games for the other teams that do not qualify for the "playoffs" . More money. simple, easy, doable. Have conference champs get auto bids. pick at large teams. Go on standings, ranking, whatever you want. Doable. Each conference champs gets automatic bid, regardless of records: Pac 10, Big 10, SEC, ACC, Big 12, USA, Mid American, WAC, Mt West, Sun and the rest up to 16 would be highest ranks teams, regardless of conference. Everybody else gets a bowl game. We had 34 bowls this year. 68 teams. 68-16 = 52 teams = 26 bowls. Everybody is happy. Wanna play in the playoffs? Go undefeated, win your conference, get ranked.

Wow, yes, Statty for president and Rick Riley for entertainment director (more shots of cheerleaders, Rick, please, sort of Title 9 rights or some such justification will work!).
