Got lucky and was asked to help with stats at the D-league Showcase this week. I've done 8 straight games (Monday and Tuesday) and moving on to 9 and 10 in about half an hour. The stat keeping is a very delicate and in depth experience, but something that I will save for another post when I've got nothing else to write about.

I have gotten to see a lot of talent though. It's fun watching all these guys give everything they've got, knowing that they are playing in front of a couple hundred NBA and foreign league scouts.

The most interesting and noteworthy comments I've heard so far, however, came from former high school coach, Charlie Henry (Capital). He mentioned that if he was still coaching high school he would bring down his team to some of the games so they could see how professional these guys are. He is right there. These players are all business, fighting and battling every game. They rarely argue with officials (compared to NBA players), are constantly communicating with their teammates and are leaving everything on the floor.

If you want a chance to see some games, they are going on all day today and tomorrow (Thursday) at Qwest Arena. Tickets are pretty cheap (I think) and you can see some great action and some former and current NBA guys. Monday and Tuesday Danny Ainge, Dee Brown and Spud Webb were all hanging out. That's about 4 rings and 2 dunk titles. Not bad for Boise.
