I just blogged about a person who sued the Oakland A's for having a ladies night promoting breast cancer awareness.  And he won.  It's a horrible story that should never happen in this great country of ours.  However, it happens all the time and I just found out about another one.

It seems that a little leaguer hit the first double of his career and had to slide into second base.  He slid late and awkwardly, and tore up his knee ending his season.  The mother of the kid sued the coach for improper teaching, the first base coach for sending him, the local little league and the national little league organization for having pop-out bases, which were put in for safety.  And she settled out of court for 125,000, which was a win in her eyes.  Please put me on one of these jurys!!!!

The other story is a little leaguer who broke his arm as a catcher in the first scrimmage of the year when he was trying to tag out a runner who was coming home.  And what did his parents do?  They asked the coach if there was something their child could still do for the team.  And here's what happened:  he put his uniform on for each game and kept the scorebook.  He was honored for his commitment by winning both the Little League Good Sport Award and a free trip to Williamsport, Pa. for the Little League World Series.

Once again, I am going to send you to Rick Reilly and his column on this, which is where I found out about it.  Please read his column because he does a much better job telling the story than I ever could.  It's funny and to the point.  I don't what I will do if he ever retires.  Keep it coming, Rick.  You are the best!! Click here for his column.
