Seattle Pacific head men's basketball coach Jeff Hironaka has accepted an offer to become an assistant coach under Ken Bone at Washington State University.

Hironaka has extensive ties to Idaho.  He graduated from Weiser High School and coached the junior varsity basketball team after graduating from Eastern Oregon in 1980.  He went on to coach at Ririe High School and Blackfoot High School.  After that, Hironaka became an assistant at Idaho State before moving on to Seattle Pacific.

At Seattle Pacific, Hironaka was Bone's top assistant for eleven years before ascending to the head coaching position in 2002.  He did not have a losing season as SPU's head coach.

Re: Weiser's Hironaka jumps to D-1

With Blackfoot ties, I'll have to do a follow up on this (it helps that I'm a Coug fan, too).

Could be a good Morning News feature ;)
