It was announced today in the Idaho Statesman that six Idaho Select players were selected to their classification's all state teams. The selections included two players, Ryan Young (Lewiston) and Tanner Higham (Shelley), that were named Players of the Year.
Young was selected as the 5A Player of the Year. He made a name for himself as a defensive player and also averaged 11.7 points per game during the state tournament to lead Lewiston to their first state title since 1948.
Higham was selected as the 3A Player of the Year. Despite facing double-teams and box-and-one defenses throughout the year and state tournament, Higham did a great job of finding open teammates and scoring efficiently. He averaged 19.9 points, 5.3 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game as he led Shelley to their second state title in three years.
Other Idaho Select players that were selected include Eagle's Ben Van Lith (5A First Team), Borah's Craig Spjute (5A Second Team), Skyview's Matt Clark (4A Second Team) and Declo's Connor Garner (2A Second Team).

Vince, Time to not be so one sided on this "select" thing. Would've been nice of you to give at least some, if not equal coverage to the girls side of the world. Like "also" above, there were several IHAHO FLASH players that made all-state and 4 of them on the 5A level have actually signed to go on to the next level.
Adams(Centennial)-NNU Christensen(Vallivue)-Utah St. Lenhardt(Eagle)-Boise St. Shannon(Vallivue)-Albertsons
I have not seen one player from the boys side this year sign yet. Be willing to give "kudos" to these girls who worked extremely hard not only on their high school teams but on the Idaho Flash team winning the whole Seattle MSNM tournament over the summer! These ladies proved that girls basketball in Idaho is a force to be reckoned with and universities are noticing from the D1 level on down. You girls are AWESOME!
