An unlikely rally from 17 points down lifted North Idaho College to the Region 18 championship and a trip to the NJCAA national basketball tournament in Salinas, KS.

The Cardinals beat the College of Southern Idaho, 66-61, despite facing the large deficit with just over twelve minutes to play.

The national tournament will be played from March 17-21.

Couer d'Alene Press writer Rod Harwood pointed out an interesting piece of trivia-- two NIC players will be returning to the NJCAA national tournament for the second time this season.  Natalie Nichols (soccer) and Lauren Boyd-Miller (volleyball) were part of NIC programs that reached nationals in other sports during the fall.

Both Nichols (Lakeland) and Miller (Centennial) are products of Idaho high schools.
